MARCIN KOLEJKO X YKRA Interview
We are super stoked about our upcoming collab with the amazing talent Marcin Kolejko, of which we have shown you the T-shirts, but we have more surprises coming your way!
Gearing up for the launch we wanted to do an interview with Marcin to introduce him, and find out a little more about the inspirations behind his work!
YKRA: Hey Marcin, tell us a bit about yourself. Where are you from and how did you get into graphic design?
Marcin: My name is Marcin Kolejko. I am from a small Polish town somewhere near the German border. I am 37 years old, and I’ve been drawing for as long as I can remember, but my adventure with graphics and illustration began fairly recently. Currently I am freelancing, and there is nothing that brings me more joy than work that involves drawing, graphics and sound.
YKRA: Your stuff looks super dope! Kind of like a nice 70’s acid trip cartoon. Where do you get your inspiration from?
Marcin: Thanks! I find inspiration everywhere, including music, movies, cartoons, nature, life, erotics, and above all, the simple stuff I come across daily.
YKRA: What were some of your favourite works that you did, and are you working on anything exciting right now?
Marcin: One of my favourite pieces is the cover I made for one of the Elusive’s album titled ‘Cosmic Web’. Recently I had the pleasure to design yet another cover for Elusive, this time for his newest album, ‘Moments’. It is a sweet feeling to be able to represent the music you love with your illustration! Currently, I am learning to sew caps and plan on launching the clothing line with my graphics.
YKRA: It looks great, and the casette is a nice touch. And it certainly sounds like you are on the right track to your clothing line with these new T-shirts! Life goals?
Marcin: Smile and do the things I enjoy the most, i.a. drawing.
YKRA: Well thanks a million for working with us! We are super happy about the designs, and love how they worked out! I think we can let everyone in on the little secret that we have the SKATE AND SURF pattern coming out on the backpacks as well. They are actually already here in boxes, ready to hit the webshop and fly out to their lucky owners around the world! To wrap this up, we just have one last question: Whats the best music you have discovered lately and would like to recommend to everyone?
Marcin: Damn! There is so much good music I have yet to discover, but I highly recommend artists like Ivan Ave, Madlib, Mndsgn, Elusive, Samiyam, J Dilla…
